    The top 100 art museums in the world received around 141 million visitors in 2022. The Louvre Museum ranked first with more than 7.7 million visits, but still behind the pre-pandemic number, according to Statista.

    The eight most visited museums attract 33.9 million visitors, representing 24% of the total.

    The Louvre Museum (Paris) received 7.7 million tourists in 2022, an increase of 173% compared to 2021, but it is still 20% below the volume before the Coronavirus pandemic.

    The second place is held by the Vatican Museums (Vatican City), with 5.08 million visitors, 26% less than in 2019, although 215% more than in all of 2021. The British Museum and the Tate Modern, both located in London, rank third and fourth, with 4.09 million and 3.88 million visitors, respectively.

    The National Museum of Korea, located in Seoul, is the only one in the top 10 that has exceeded the number of pre-pandemic visitors, achieving 3.41 million visits (+2%).

    The Musée d'Orsay in Paris has recovered 90% of visitors in 2019. Since last year, it has accounted for 3.27 million. The National Gallery of Art in Washington had 3.25 million visitors (-20%), and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York had 3.21 million (-34%).
