Nearly 3.7 million foreign tourists traveled to Vietnam in the first four months of 2023, according to the Vietnam National Tourism Administration (VNAT). The number of domestic tourists during the period was estimated at 38 million. Total tourist receipts were estimated at VNĐ196.6 trillion (about 8.3 billion EUR).

Of all the visitors, 88.7% traveled via air, 10.1% chose the road, and 1.2% came by sea.

In April alone, Vietnam welcomed 984,000 foreign tourists, the highest figure since the beginning of the year and a 9.9 percent increase from the previous month. In addition, the country welcomed 10.5 million domestic tourists during the month.

The Republic of Korea remained Vietnam's most significant source of tourist market in the first four months of this year, with one million visitors. This was followed by the United States (263,000 visitors) and China (252,000 visitors).

The number of Chinese tourists to Vietnam in April was 112,000, an increase of 61.5 percent from the previous month, thanks to the reopening of the Chinese border to group travel on March 15.

Between January and April, accommodation and food services revenue was estimated at VND 214.8 trillion (about 9 billion EUR), representing a 25 percent year-on-year increase.
