
TURKISH ANTALYA STARTED 2023 WITH A RECORD NUMBER OF TOURISTS
In January-February 2023, the number of tourists coming to Turkish Antalya reached 450,000. During the same period, the city welcomed 300,000 visitors in 2019 and 289,000 visitors in 2022.
According to the data announced by the Antalya authorities, the number of tourists who visited the city by air between January 1 and February 28 was 450 283. This figure appeared in history as the 'best start of all time'.
In 2019, known as the 'year of records' in tourism, this figure was 296 344, in 2020 - 387 598, in 2021 - 98 150 and in 2022 - 288 990. In Antalya, one of the important tourism centers of the Mediterranean, the increase in tourism data continued in 2023. Antalya closed 2022 with nearly 13.5 million tourists, making a fast entry to 2023.
56 Percent Increase
The number of tourists who visited the city by air during February was 230 635 travelers, where the "best February" was also signed after the "best January". Thus, February 2023 was recorded for Antalya as 'the best February of all time'. In February 2022, 150 386 travelers visited Antalya by air. In February 2023, there was an increase of 53 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. The rate of increase in the 2-month period was 56 percent.
Top Source Markets Not Changed
In 2023, the ranking of source markets in terms of the number of tourists visiting Antalya by air has not changed. Between January 1 and February 28, the most tourists came to Antalya from Russia – 132 074. Germany followed Russia with 79 797 tourists and England with 40 010 tourists. The other countries that sent the most tourists to Antalya by air in the two-month period were Poland, Israel, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Ukraine, Denmark and Belgium, respectively.
No Risk of Earthquakes
According to the statement of AFAD and experts, Ankara, Antalya, Sinop and Zonguldak are among the provinces that do not have fault lines or have the least earthquake risk.
