The SCOTT Solace Wasteland by Dangerholm Has the Most Dangerous Disc Brake Rotors

For his latest custom build, Dangerholm has gone full Mad Max. The purposely rusty creation includes a wild truss fork that lacks a traditional stem, and saw blades that double as brake rotors. Add a solar panel charging system, and this ebike will be ready for the apocalypse.

A far cry from the SCOTT Solace Gravel eRIDE that Dangerholm started with, this wild creation still features the TQ HPR50 drive system though the frame has seen some structural changes. The most noticeable is the addition of an extra “klunker” style tube for the front triangle. Dangerholm states that the tube “serves no purpose other than to add to the appearance of the bike. This was cut up and I re-shaped the top tube to fit as good as possible inside the Solace front triangle. While I’m no stranger to modifications I’m no carbon work expert, so I left it to my local carbon repair man to bond it in place.”

There’s also a different drive unit guard plate and seat stay skid plates made from metal. While the frame is made from carbon, Dangerholm’s inspiration from Mad Max vehicles meant that the carbon look was out of place. Instead, he used a special paint that actually rusts. The paint contains an iron powder that gives a true rusty finish when sanded and sprayed with an activator.

The fork is easily the show stopper and is a combination of fork, ‘stem’, and bars. Custom fabricated by Monē Bikes, the fork has plenty of interesting details like Damascus steel styling, coins for fork tube and handlebar ends, and unique brake line routing through the fork leg.

There’s been a lot of hand-wringing about the dangers of disc brake rotors in the pro peloton, but these are actually dangerous. So much so that there are custom-fabricated rotor guards again by Monē Bikes to prevent the actual saw blades from cutting anything.

You get thirsty out there in the barren wastelands so the bike has a spot for a water bottle (metal of course) along with a trusty flask mounted to the seat post.
