Worldwide air travel reservations to fly between May and September are 35% higher than in 2022, according to International Air Transport Association (IATA) data.
The survey, which covered 4,700 travelers from 11 countries, corresponds to reservation data from the first quarter of this year.
Bookings rebounded most in the Asia-Pacific region (+134.7%) after the removal of restrictions due to Covid-19, followed by the Middle East (+42.9%), Europe (39.9%), and Africa (+36.4%).
In addition, IATA points out that 79% of passengers plan to travel during the high season this year. Also, the vast majority expect to travel smoothly after airlines and airports stepped up operations after last year's chaos.
IATA experts stressed that although some air travel disruptions are expected, there is a clear expectation that the increased traffic issues some key airports faced in 2022 will have been resolved.
Airlines are preparing schedules based on the declared capacities of airports, border controls, ground handling services, and air navigation service providers to handle the high demand.
