UK-based custom bicycle manufacturer, Sturdy Cycles, launches its first “off the peg” Titanium gravel frame. The new SC-G frame kit is a departure from Sturdy, as they usually make custom titanium frames “to measure”. The SC-G is available in 4 sizes and is aimed at customers who don’t need the full custom experience or just don’t want to wait.

The SC-G sports some 3D printing tech in the frame build, the same tech used in Sturdy’s fully custom models, all hand-made and finished in Sommerset, at Sturdy’s Cycles workshop in Frome.

The Design

Keeping versatility at the fore-front, the design of the SC-G frame allows customers the option of using a wide range of off-road capable drop-bar builds. So, you can build a relaxed all-road bike, or a stout off-road tourer, this frame can tackle at all.

The 3D printed titanium tube junctions are CNC machined prior to being welded to drawn titanium tubes. The frameset rocks a 1.5″ headset, titanium rear thru-axle, titanium water bottle bosses, and titanium UDH Hanger.

The SC-G frame has mounts for fenders, a lot of water bottle mounts and multi-mounts. Plus, it has the ability to run up to a 700 x 55mm tire.

The frame also features a raw titanium shot-peened finish with your choice of finishes for the downtube logo. The logo choices range from a contrast brushed titanium finish to a choice of 8 different Cerakote colors.

SC-G Geometry

The geo looks to be that of a typical modern gravel bike. It’s running longer chainstays for stability and speed on the rough stuff while also allowing for better traction on the steep, loose climbs. It sports a slightly elevated stack for a more upright, comfy riding position. And, the headtube angle gives you “straight-line” stability, which is great for really rough terrain.
