Revel Rascal SL Drops Weight with New Layup and Secretive Build Kits

Ever since it first launched, the Revel Rascal has been one of my favorite bikes. Now, it’s gotten even better thanks to a new carbon layup. It wasn’t that long ago that the Rascal already dropped some weight with the updated V2. The new Rascal SL is essentially the same bike, just with a more advanced carbon layup.

How much lighter? Revel claims the frame is now nearly half a pound, or 200g lighter. It still features the same 130mm travel CBF-driven rear wheel travel and is designed around a 140mm travel fork.

The geometry appears to be identical to the existing Revel Rascal, with a 65.5º head tube angle, 76/76.5º effective seat tube angle, and moderate reach numbers. The frame is offered in five sizes from Small to XX-Large.

Want to know the complete builds? You’ll have to wait – at least until later today for the Treeline and Summit builds. You’ll have to wait longer for the High Country build, but judging by the Fox suspension, we can guess it won’t be a SRAM build, and that price indicates a premium level drivetrain…

Update: Now that the SRAM embargo is up, we can confirm that the Treeline build will include the new SRAM Eagle 90 mechanical drivetrain and Motive Silver brakes, and the Summit will get the new SRAM Motive Ultimate brakes to go with its XO AXS Transmission.

While pricing for the Rascal SL starts at $6,499 for the complete bikes, Revel is keeping the standard Rascal V2 in the lineup as a “premium entry level” model and a $5,199 price tag. Frame kits will be offered on the Rascal SL at $3,699.
