If anyone would like to sample a Ride Bristol Dig Day in advance of the conference we will be up in Ashton Court estate tomorrow (Saturday 25th January) and Saturday February 15th. Details and signup on Eventbrite, excerpt from email below.

    THIS SATURDAY
    ASHTON COURT DIG DAY
This Saturday 25th January we’re holding our first dig day of the year!

It’s also our very first dig day with our new tools and horsebox – kindly crowd-funded by you, our amazing community.

We’re hosting a morning and an afternoon session, working together to refurbish the Nova Trail.

You’re welcome to come to one, or both of them. We especially need volunteers in the afternoon, please!

We’ll repair the trail surface, correct its alignment, repair trail features and fill potholes. Most, but not all, the work is physical; if you are fit enough to ride the trails, you will be fine. The vibe is about fun, working at a sustainable pace and developing trail-building skills for those who wish to.

    Hope to see you there!

They  want people to pay to attend this word salad!!! I would have a heavy heart about doing to something like this when it was on works time. I dont really understand what they want to achieve from the conference, Im not counting producing another report that will be ignored by 99% of the mountain bike community, let alone wider decision makers.

Not just that – it looks like its £50 a ticket!

The whole website looks like a million I’ve seen before around the workplace, usually spun up by HR types as something to do. Code of conduct, who do we want MTBers to be represented by, D&I etc – makes MTB sound like some kind of bunch of degenerates destroying the countryside and who are public enemy #1 and we need to improve our image.

I’ve tried to discern the point of this from their blurb but have failed.

Can some one tell me what it’s for in just a couple of sentences?

Is it that some MTBers think mtb needs to be changed to something else?

^ that was my take. Think I’ll just go and enjoy riding my bike with my mates this weekend like I normally do. People have too much time on their hands….
