Punctual departures, quality service, cool bars and shops – some airports in the world are just pleasure to be at. A new ranking titled "Airhelp Score 2022" reveals which are the best (and worst) airports in the world.

This year, the air passenger rights portal evaluated 151 international airports. They were rated on the basis of flight punctuality, customer satisfaction, food and shops. Punctuality was the biggest factor, accounting for 60%.

The survey evaluated data collected between January 1 and October 31, 2022 and also asked travelers about their most recently used airports.

The best airport in the world is Tokyo-Haneda Airport in Japan. The rest of the top 10 airports are located in Brazil, India, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates.

Tokyo Haneda International Airport is not only the best airport in the world in terms of its overall score of 8.83 out of a possible 10 points. No other airport scores 8.9 points among passengers surveyed.

The second-best airport in the world is Recife Airport in the Brazilian city of the same name, with a total score of 8.52. The third place is occupied by Tokyo's second international airport: Tokyo-Narita, which according to Japanese legislation is considered a first-class airport, i.e. an international hub, it received 8.49 points. In terms of customer satisfaction, the airport ranks second with 8.78 points.

European airports as a whole do not fare particularly well in international comparisons. A glance at the ranking shows this: Europe's best airport is Madrid-Barajas with a total score of 8.25 points on 12th place.

Second place in Europe also goes to Spain: With 8.05 points, Bilbao is on 24th place in the global ranking - in terms of punctuality, the Basque airport is even 0.13 points ahead of Madrid. The third-best European airport with 7.79 points is Vienna-Schwechat Airport, Austria's largest and best-known airport. In the overall ranking, however, the Austrian airport only comes on 44th place.

In an international comparison, however, Toronto-Pearson Airport in Toronto, the city of over a million people and the capital of the Canadian province of Ontario, lands at the very bottom of the ranking and is among the worst airports in the world. In the overall ranking, the airport received 6.11 points. In terms of punctuality, the airport lands in second-to-last place with 5.33 points.

The world's least punctual airport is also the second worst in the overall ranking: Lombok International Airport received a total of only 6.35 points. Close behind are London Luton Airport (6.48 points), Antalya Airport (6.50 points) and Bristol Airport (6.54 points).

Instead of continually going out on strike, the lazy brits should focus on getting their airports together. 4 out of the worst 10 airports in the world. If the lazy buggers "woking" in British airports think that is something to be proud of, I can see why these airports are like they are. A complete and utter mess. I am shocked the LHR isn't on the list. The laziest and rudest airport staff in the world. And clearly they on't give a toss. Instead they are striking for more money. get a grip UK. I'd fire the bloody lot them, a broom through the place and start again. Get back to work you bludgers !
