First Look: State Bicycles Updates 4130 All-Road Bike w/ Impressive Spec at $1000
There’s nothing like a good bike for an affordable price. And that’s been State Bicycle Co’s jam from the get-go. For 2025, they’ve done it again by updating their award-winning 4130 All-Road bicycle. The new updates include some new colorways and the 4130 All-Road’s additional new features are plentiful.

State Bikes calls their All-Road bike a “premier entry-level gravel bike”. And with a price of $999, it’s a great value. Along with a dependable steel frame and fork, the 4130 All-Road is available in drop or flat bar flavors. These new bikes are peppered with upgrades that add performance and drop some weight.

For 2025 all of the 4130 All-Road bikes are now UDH compatible and dropper-ready with internal cable routing. The 4130 forks are now equipped with cargo mounts. Plus, the new 2025 All-Road frames have a third downtube bottle mount, as well as a top tube mount.

The standard steel frame and fork have tire clearance for 700c x 45mm tires, but the optional Carbon Monster Fork v2 (+$299) has clearance for tires up to 700 x 55mm wide. The stock 4130 All-Road wheels get upgraded to a 23mm internal width (700c), and 25mm internal width (650b). State Bikes has also upgraded to higher-quality spokes and upgraded hubs.

In addition, State Bicycle’s house-brand drivetrain has also been upgraded from 11-speed to 12-speed. Plus, the new 4130 All-Road now comes standard with cable-actuated hydraulic brakes. Cassette options for the new All-Road include 11-46, and 11-50.

I got my hands on one of these bikes earlier this week in the Raw Phosphate color. It’s a really nice-looking, and well-spec’d bike. After I built it up, I weighed it and it came out to a little over 28lbs, with my old Shimano 747 pedals installed. That’s not horrible, and it rides like a lighter bike.

I’ve put a few rides on it and it feels solid, shifts perfectly, and stops with authority. The geometry feels familiar and predictable. It seems like a perfect gravel/all-road bike for the beginner or an intermediate rider.

The house-brand components look clean and kick the 4130 All-Road’s aesthetics up a notch. It doesn’t look like a $1000 bicycle, it looks much more expensive.

The State branded Sensah drivetrain works flawlessly, and the 11-50 rear cog offers a nice range for all types of riding and terrain.

When I did my Masi Incanto dream build, I used a pair of 11-speed Sensah shift/brake levers. I’ve put over 1000 miles on those levers, and they never missed a shift. Not once. So, I will say that I have no reason to believe that the Sensah shift/brake levers on the new 4130 All-Road would be any different.

I’ve only had a few rides on it so far. But, I found the bars that came on the new All-Road to be very comfy. The flare was more than I’m used to, but otherwise felt great. I have yet to do any techy descending, but I’m confident that the bike will behave predictably.

The price for this entry-level to intermediate gravel bike seems to offer a ton of bang for your buck with these new upgrades. That being said, I will keep this bike on hand and get some more rides in… then let you know what I think. But, I have high hopes that it will prove itself to be a great bike for a great price. Stay tuned.
