According to information from the Ministry of the Interior, Quintana Roo captured 37.8% of the 3.2 million U.S. travelers who entered Mexico by air during the first quarter of 2023. It is equivalent to 1.2 million U.S. tourists, Mexico's most important international source market by volume.

Regarding Canada, the country's second most important international market, Cancun attracted 498,068 travelers, 51.2% of the 971,482 who arrived nationwide.

As for Colombia, the third most important international market, Cancun captured 44.7%, 79,997 citizens of that South American country, compared to the 178,819 reported nationally during the first quarter of the year.

Therefore, Cancun alone has the highest share of the three main source markets.

The federal Ministry of Tourism announced that Cancun, Mexico City and Los Cabos were the destinations that received the highest number of international tourists between January and March of this year, with 4.19 million tourists, 370,215 more than in the first three months of 2022, exceeding by 4.2% the arrivals of the first quarter of 2019, when 4.02 million travelers arrived.

2.51 million international tourists arrived in Cancun, 4.9% more than in the same period of 2022; 1.01 million tourists arrived at Mexico City International Airport, 15.2% higher than the first quarter of 2022, and Los Cabos airport received 670,237 international travelers, 21.9% more than observed during the first three months of 2022.
