Boring Wheelset? Chris King’s New Anodized Centerlock Lock Rings are the Solution
Portland, Oregon’s Chris King Precision Components makes some of the best hubs in the biz. And when you purchase a set of their Centerlock hubs, you’ll normally just get a Shimano Centerlock ring with it. If that little essential Shimano part is too boring for you, now you can add a splash of color with a new Chris King anodized Centerlock lockring.
New King rings may also be the answer, if you just have some other less shiny ho-hum wheelset that needs sprucing up…

The only question you’ll be asking yourself is: “Do I match the rest of my steed’s color theme, or be bold and add some contrast with these lil’ unsung heroes of the stopping world?“

Chris King says they concentrated on a few key elements of the Centerlock ring, the threading, and the backside’s knurling. These are arguably the most important aspects of the Centerlock lock ring design.

King’s “ultra-precise” threading will keep your lockring in place when installed and torqued to spec. And, the knurling is said to grab the rotor as it should, with a thin steel crush washer there to help the ring release when it’s time for maintenance.

The new Chris King Centerlock rings are made from CNC-machined aluminum, just like all your other favorite colorful King goodies. They include a steel crush washer, and sport the classic King laser-etched markings to match their headsets and hubs.
The new lock rings are available in all eleven of the current Chris King colors, plus Two-Tone Black & Gold.

“King components stand out because we get all the little details right,” said King Sales Director Greg Hudson, “Standard lockrings have clumsy threads, and they come loose too easily. We precision-threaded ours, so they hold tight. We also gave extra attention to the knurling that grabs the rotor on the backside. There’s a lot of engineering in this one little component.”

“We expect many riders will want these to complement their hub colors,” Hudson continued, “or use them as contrast for headset and bottom bracket. It’s another way for riders to tie their bikes together with color. But we put a lot of energy into this design. It looks great, and it’s functionally better.”
