All-new Specialized Levo 4 eMTB Boosts up to 111Nm of Super Power, Control & Genie Adjustability

The all-new carbon Specialized Levo 4 eMTB boosts power, range, control, ride & geometry adjustability, and even how much integrated SWAT gear you can carry on your rides. Basically, every stat on this ebike gets big improvements over the already popular previous generation, as Specialized aims to build the ultimate enduro-ready all-mountain eMTB. They describe it as the culmination of “where super power meets natural… you only faster.”

Specialized describes their new 150mm travel Levo 4 e-mountainbike with a lot of “super” superlatives. And forgive me for carrying on some of their super marketing speak. But the new Levo is clearly one of the best eMTBs on the market. Its only real downside, unsurprisingly, is the eye-watering pricetag.

If you can suspend your disbelief of the $13.5k price for a few minutes, it is interesting to dig into a lot of great new tech. With the Levo 4, Specialized managed to make a more powerful ebike that is also more controllable, has a natural riding feel (for the most part), and is quiet enough to not detract from your ride enjoying the great outdoors.

Super Power 2025 Specialized Levo 4 carbon all-mountain eMTB, new S-works motor2025 Specialized Levo 4 carbon all-mountain eMTB, new S-works motor

At the core of the new 4th generation Levo is one of two all-new 3.1 series motors – both featuring class-leading power, smoother power delivery, and much quieter operation. And 27% more power than the gen 3 Levo.

The new S-Works-only motor now boasts 111Nm of torque and 720W peak power (a 27% increase over the previous Levo 3), while the standard model still puts out 101Nm and up to 666W of peak power.

Battery options also go big. Most ebikes will come with a 840Wh internal battery, but there’s also a lighter 600Wh option if you want to go superlight. Add the 280Wh external range extender battery to boost either’s range. Or run the range extender only, and it transforms the new Levo into a light-assist eMTB to ride with friends on low-powered ebikes, too.

But with more power comes more… need for control. And that’s where smarter firmware comes in. Specialized reworked power delivery to enable smoother transitions to all of that extra torque, repeatedly testing their control systems on loose climbs to dial it in perfectly. At the same time, the new motors do a better job of continuing to match & boost your power, especially as your cadence increases. 60rpm was the sweet spot before, but now the gen 3.1 motors keep up the power to peak around 70rpm. But it now stays consistent all the way up to 120rpm, so you can keep spinning faster on those toughest climbs without worrying about upshifting and losing grip or support.

More ‘super power’ and more ‘super natural’ smoothness are both great. But now, thanks to new hard diamond-like coatings to the steel gears inside, the meshing of the internal gears inside the new motors is quieter.

Then, new ‘potting’ (an insulator material around the electric motor’s stators) means you get less of the wind-up noise of the motor as well.

Add one more fact that the main motor bearing is now physically decoupled from the metal motor housing, and that noise simply doesn’t get amplified out of the motor. The result is a much quieter operation. We’ve ridden this thing next to the latest Shimano, Bosch & Pinion ebikes and it’s surprising how little you can hear the new S-Works 3.1 motor next to the best of those other big motor makers.

The Specialized motor certainly isn’t exactly silent. But it is noticeably quieter than before. So when you are riding a gravel-y trail or even over dry leaves, you’ll be hard pressed to hear the motor until you max out support on the steepest of climbs or at your highest spinning cadence.

Genie Shock & Adjustability 2025 Specialized Levo 4 carbon all-mountain eMTB, adjustable Genie shock2025 Specialized Levo 4 carbon all-mountain eMTB, adjustable Genie shock

The new Levo 4 packs in a lot of new adjustability. A good part of that comes from a new patent-pending dual-air chamber Genie shock made by Fox. It delivers improved bump force management for a more linear, flatter spring rate for the mid travel we use most often. But the split chambers (the 1st 70% of travel uses both air chambers & the last 30% uses just the inner chamber to ramp up support & spring rate at end stroke) also mean you can easily tune how the suspension feels by alternating volume spacers in either air chamber.

More adaptability comes thanks to a first for eMTB internal frame storage. Above the standard 840Wh battery, Specialized tucked in a new magnetic SWAT box designed to carry those repair essentials you hopefully won’t need very often, like a spare inner tube and an inflator. And if you opt for the smaller 600Wh internal battery, there’s more room for carrying something like a spare rain jacket.

Of course, Specialized didn’t want to hear the rattle of a quick-release latch, so you’ll need a tool to open the battery door to get to either. But there’s a great SWAT mini tool under your headset cap that’s easy to access.

Geometry 2025 Specialized Levo 4 carbon all-mountain eMTB, geometry2025 Specialized Levo 4 carbon all-mountain eMTB, geometry

Of course, the mullet-only geometry is adjustable too, although the stock setup is a pretty solid starting point. But picky riders can tweak the headtube angle with an adjustable headset, alter ride height with a rear shock mount flip-chip, or extend the rear end with another flip-chip at the rear pivot on the chainstays.

Matched with adjusting geo, you also get more control over pedal-assist with new Micro Tune and Dynamic Micro Tune motor modes. You can either adjust pedal-assist power in 10% Micro Tune increments to adapt to changing terrain or how much battery you have left. Or, if you hold the little remote paddle for 2 secs, you go Dynamic, with those same 10% pedal-assist increments, but still with 100% power on tap when you put your own full power into the pedals.

Other key new tech details include a bigger, better MasterMind display in the toptube, new Apple FindMy compatibility, and an optional smart Super Charger that will get a fully drained battery back to 80% in under an hour. The Super Charger comes standard with the S-Works model, but is also available separately for all other models. Plus, there’s been an update to battery management so the wired-in AXS Transmission drivetrains will still shift, even after the battery is drained too far down for any more pedal-assist.

And built to last, all new Levos come with free lifetime replacement of its suspension bearings to keep you rocking trail smoothly for years to come.
