All-New Roadfinder Collection from Pashley Cycles Blends Classic Construction & 3D Printing
As it approaches its 100th anniversary and claims to be the “longest-established British bicycle manufacturer,” UK-based Pashley Cycles is launching its new Roadfinder Collection. Founded in 1926, Pashley is dedicated to hand-building high-quality bicycles, tricycles, commercial carriers, and cargo bikes for riders of all types.
(Photos / Pashley Cycles)Today, they unveiled the Roadfinder collection, which consists of frame designs for both conventional and electric models with gravel and road-specific builds. They are designed, tested, and handmade in their UK-based factory. Using both 3D-printed and laser-cut elements, Pashley’s includes unique design elements, resulting in beautiful, high-quality, hand-crafted steel frames.
Pashley’s goal when developing the Roadfinder collection was to create “extremely versatile” bicycles – bicycles that can cover many comfortable miles on many different terrains, journeys, and adventures. From all-season endurance road rides and off-road gravel grinds to bikepacking exploration, they wanted to make the “Swiss Army Knife of Bicycles”.
“The Roadfinder collection also perfectly showcases and builds on our heritage of artisan frame-building, appealing to all riders who appreciate true versatility, performance, and the unique ride experience you only get from a high-end steel frame, built by hand using the very best materials”. Andy Smallwood, CEO, Pashley.
The Roadfinder CollectionPashley peppered in some interesting details for this collection. Some honor the frame-building traditions of the brand’s long history, and some are more modern techniques, like the collection’s 3D printed seat tube/top tube cluster. Other details like the Pashley “P” on the rear drop-out, and the refined aluminum head badge are throwbacks to the brand’s past.
Focusing on versatility, the Roadfinder Collection sports enough tire clearance to fit tires up to 700 x 45c. You’ll get fender mounts, front, rear, and frame mounts for racks and frame bags. Multiple water bottle mounts offer a ton of mounting flexibility.
The bikes will come in three standard spec variations and three new colorways per model – Lake Blue, Rich Burgundy, and Oak Green.
The Roadfinder and Roadfinder X frames will be built using the iconic Reynolds 853 steel tubes that have been e-coated for protection, before paint. These frames will have a unique 3D-printed seat tube/top tube junction.
It will have a UDH-compatible rear drop out, internal cable routing, a removable front derailleur hanger, and internal cable routing guides. The machined 44mm heat tube fits the Columbus Futura Cross+ carbon fork with a flip-chip dropout.
The Roadfinder E and Roadfinder XE frames will be built using a combination of Reynolds 725, 631, and 525 tubing, also with e-coated protection, before paint. These frames will also get the 3D-printed seat tube/top tube junction, removable derailleur hanger, and internal cable routing guides. They will sport the Kahle activation controller housing and charge point. They will be equipped with a machine-tapered headtube, ready for a full carbon eBike-compliant Road/Gravel fork.
